Hi,
In SQL Server 2005, is there anything built-in which will compare two
databases and show how their schemas differ? Something similar to the Red
Gate software?
Any assistance gratefully received.
MarkNot yet but soon there will be a tool like that with the Visual Studio Team
Edition for Databases:

Comparing 2 SQL Server Database schemas
Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way I can compare the database schemas
of 2 MS SQL Server databases? I would like to know if there are any
missing tables, missing table columns, table indices etc. from the
databases.
Any tools I can use would be greatly appreciated..
Regards and many thanks in advance,

Check out SQL Effects Clarity from http://www.sqleffects.com
The tool gives you exactly what you asked, plus a really cool
synchronized side by side schema views of both databases.

|||SCT (SQL Server Comparison Tool) might be the tool which you are
looking for. It's main purpose is to compare databases, for example to
detect if some data changed, or the structure of tables, stored
procedures, etc. But it can be also used to view data and/or objects
of one database - tables, procedures, functions, views, triggers,
relationships. For example you can quickly see how many records are in
the tables and do some basic reporting.
You can download fully functional demo version of SCT from
http://www.sql-server-tool.com/

SchemaCrawler on SourceForge that can compare schemas (and data)
between databases on two different servers.

Compare 2 database schemas?
We're using Sql Server 2000. The one database contained tables and stored procedures which were possibly updated with some script information. Is there an application(commercial or free) or script I can use to compare the base database against this updated database to confirm there schema information is the same. Thanks
You can use the tool provide by Microsoft "Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals"
This will give you Comparison Tools (Schema & Data Compare) allow comparisons & synchronization of schema and data with design/test/production databases
Have a look into the webcast at following url

This will give you a good idea
